The lower spike is just a dirty railroad spike. The upper one has been cleaned and shaped into a knife.

When we surrender to God and allow Him to shape our lives instead of trying to make out a way for ourselves, He gives us a new start and a new purpose. Jesus gives us a better life that is so fulfilling! He loves you and wants to make you whole.

We have to give up our rights and what we cling to, what we think is necessary, and allow God to strip away those things that will get in the way of our potential. We are broken, but He can make us beautiful if we let Him.
